Q. When did the company start and how has it evolved over the years? The company was established in Welshpool, Powys, in 1995 as a subsidiary of Mid Wales Tourism to deliver vocational skills that supported the development of the region’s tourism sector. Named after the famous Cambrian Mountains that rise through the heart of Wales, it was the communities, people and businesses within the region that was at the heart of what Cambrian Training was all about. It gained an enviable reputation throughout the UK for delivering high-quality training and development programmes that in turn supported the growing tourism sector. In 2002, a management buy-out saw the organisation become an independent company, led by an experienced team committed to maintaining its base in Mid Wales while expanding geographically. Since then the company has expanded, widening its work-based learning and skills and apprenticeship programmes into hospitality, food and drink, manufacturing, retail, business administration, financial services, child care, health and social care, among others. |
Q. Why is training so important for business innovation, and what advice would you give to businesses interested in taking on a new apprentice? / training for themselves or their existing staff? Where should they start?
Training is hugely important to any business in Wales and especially for business innovation as at the heart of every tourism business is their employees. Apprenticeships can create a more motivated, highly skilled, qualified and responsive workforce with the skills and experience you need to make your business successful and innovative today and in the future.
By giving apprentices an opportunity to train on the job, you are giving them the chance to grow, develop and upskill whilst gaining valuable experience. Apprentices make a real difference and can have a positive impact on your business. Businesses who are engaged with apprenticeship programmes view them as a vital element to the improvement of skills, innovation and a long term training solution to the development of their workforce.
If you are interested in recruiting an apprentice or training your existing staff, then please contact us today to talk about apprenticeships and the support we can offer you. We can arrange a meeting to discuss your business and employee needs and even help and support you to advertise for an apprentice FREE OF CHARGE online.
